We are Full of Surprises!

This is the great article about a new upstream river cruise from Chongqing to Wanzhou. We also provide the full cruise itinerary which includes sailing through the gorges and daily shore excursions with the final trip in Wanzhou.
We announced the launch of three brand new vessels even as we delivered another, Century Glory, in September 2019! We announced new excursions even though our itineraries are already packed! Now we are announcing more itineraries even though we announced new ones only last year! We are certainly innovative – because we are the best Yangtze River Specialists!
These new itineraries not only introduce new excursions but also visits to largely neglected cities on the Yangtze River – they’ve been there for over a thousand years but somehow got overlooked by their bigger and shinier counterparts. One of these unsung heroes is quaint Wanzhou, which literally means where “a myriad of rivers converge and a myriad of traders gather”. The city spreads out on both sides of the Yangtze river and has always been a hub for goods travelling up and down. At about halfway between Chongqing and Yichang, Wanzhou is a key point on the Three Gorges Dam.
Wanzhou is easily reached by high speed train as it’s part of the Shanghai–Wuhan–Chengdu High-Speed Railway. Also, the town has a small airport which is connected to Beijing, Shanghai, Guilin, Guangzhou and with some international cities.
After embarking on the 5-day cruise in Wanzhou, the vessel will continue down to the shortest but also the most scenic section, Qutang Gorge. We continue through the Wu Gorges where legend has it that a goddess and her 11 handmaidens were transformed into the mountains and now help sailors navigate the treacherous waters below. A small motor boat will take you through the mysterious and unspoiled region to explore one of the four peaks which towers over the clean water of Shennv Stream.
Day three of the new itinerary will take you to the Geological Park, also known as Longgang or “Dragon Jar”. You will have the chance to walk on the world’s largest glass cantilevered bridge, for unparalleled views of the natural surroundings.
On day four we will visit the famous Fengdu Ghost City, a large complex of shrines, temples and monasteries dedicated to the afterlife.
Day five is dedicated to disembarkation in our home town – Chongqing.
While on-board our vessels you will be entertained until late into the night and fed like an Emperor. There are a wealth of activities dedicated to bring China and Chinese history to you. You can try TaiChi on the top deck, or watch a documentary on the Yangtze River and her influence on this incredible country. You can choose to indulge yourself in the Zen Spa Center or relax in the quiet Library, try the traditional Chinese board game Ma Jong or learn the art of Chinese Calligraphy. The choices are endless and we promise you will never be at a loose end on any of ships!
