We are back…raring to go!

2020-03-31 10:15

It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop.
Confucius (551-479 BC), philosopher

After a long period in quarantine, we at Century Cruises are ready to set sail on the waters of the Yangtze River again. Like bears, after a long winter hibernation period, we are ready to roar!

We are very actively looking for new attractive sights along the mighty Yangtze River, checking new itineraries, trying new menus, introducing exciting on-board activities!

Apart from launching three brand new ships within the next two years, we are pleased to announce brand new visits to secret places scattered along the Yangtze River. As you know, the length of the longest river in Asia and the third longest river in the world is 6300 km. Only a small part of that length is navigable for cruise ships, and so there are generally only a limited number of visit-able places. However, Century Cruises, established over 20 years ago right here on the Yangtze, knows the river inside out and is delighted to incorporate three brand new excursions into our itineraries.

Visit to the magnificent Mt Wuling Great Rift Valley

We are back…raring to go!

Explore Mother Nature on the Yangtze River by walking along the Great Rift Valley path, 1500 m long, hanging 500 m over the cliff walls. This UNESCO World Heritage Site has 95% forest coverage, and is home to more than 2000 species of plants. The site is also known for its karst landforms which cover over 9 sq kilometres, filled with the peaks, terraces, and valleys. It is also a place well known for fresh air and well reserved colorful Eco-system filled with hills, forests, springs, caves, falls, lakes, pools, gorges, holes, and fissures, with waterfalls splashing, streams flowing, green grass, and flowers blooming all year round.

Visit to the 816 Underground Nuclear Military Bunker

We are back…raring to go!

Love history? Here is your chance to experience a rare example of bygone times on the Yangtze River. Visit the 816 Underground Nuclear Plant in Fuling, the largest bunker in the world located in the world’s largest artificial cave! This remarkable piece of history was reputedly home to a factory making plutonium that took 17 years to build with more than 130 roads and tunnels, only to be abandoned in 1984 as the Cold War drifted towards its end. The bunker was declassified in 2002 and is open to tourists on a guided tour( in 2010 ) .

The Yunyang Longgang National Geological Park is also known as Longgang or “Dragon Jar”. In geological terms the park is formed from karst and it’s very deep. It’s the third deepest in China and the fifth in the world. The park is home to the world’s largest glass cantilevered bridge, one of China’s many engineering triumphs, 26.62 metres long and 1010 meters high, constructed in the shape of a horse shoe. Walking on the bridge is not for the faint-hearted as it has no steel supports, but it does give you a feeling of floating above the wonderful landscape.
