Many cruise liners on the Yangtze River travel in environmentally sensitive areas and the frail ecosystem of the 3rd longest river in the world needs to be protected. The Chinese alligator is the only known living species of alligator native to China and you can see them exclusively in the Yangtze River. With only around 200 individuals accounted for in the wild, the Chinese alligator is listed as a critically endangered species. The very small number of other endangered species such as the Yangtze River Dolphin, Yangtze Giant Softshell Turtle, Yangtze Salamander and Sturgeon also need protection. As a result, Century Cruises, a responsible cruise company, has built a new ship using the newest technology available to implement a low emission system, keeping in mind the endangered species along the Yangtze River.

Also, Century Cruises has invested into high rudder propeller technology to make the newest addition, Century Glory, more efficient. In order to reduce river pollution, Century Cruises integrated electronic propulsion which among all the prospective alternate power sources, is one of the best tried out alternatives today.

The new ship, Century Glory, is the newest and largest super 5-star luxury cruise vessel on the Yangtze River, and is a part of the company’s goal to offer brand new ships on the Yangtze River rather than rebuilding or refurbishing older vessels. The ships will be able to accommodate 650 guests on the 10 days main voyage starting from one of the four Great Ancient Capitals of China, Nanjing, on the 9th September and finishing in cosmopolitan Shanghai.

There are altogether 8 types of contemporary, luxury and comfortable cabins and suites onboard the Century Glory, some of them connected to welcome family members. Public areas include HD cinema, Grand Atrium lobby, bar, observation lounge, sun deck bar, two dining rooms, gym, self-service laundry and convenience store.
